Rich text
The Body of a page, a post, a notice, an event or a place is rich text: words with headings, lists, links, images and embeds. The editor formats as you write.
The toolbar
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Bold, Italic, Strikethrough | Emphasis. |
| Heading 2, Heading 3 | Headings for the body's topics and their sub-topics. The page's title is its main heading. |
| Bulleted list, Numbered list | Lists. |
| Quote | A quotation. |
| Link | Turns the selected words into a link. |
| Undo, Redo | Steps back and forward. |
Drag a block by its handle to move it. The body is stored as Markdown. Text pasted from elsewhere keeps its headings and lists.
Images and attachments
Insert image or attachment offers four ways in.
- Upload image: a JPEG, PNG or WebP picture. It opens in the crop and rotate window first, then goes into the body.
- Upload attachment: a PDF, shown in the body as a card that opens the file.
- Choose from library: an image or a document already in Media.
- Embed video or map by link: below.
Select an image in the body to set its Image size: Small, Medium, Large or Full. Drag its corner for a size between.
An image carries the description from its library entry. See Accessibility.
Videos and maps
- Press Insert image or attachment, then Embed video or map by link.
- Paste the page or share link under Link to embed. YouTube and Vimeo links become their player.
- Give it a Title. A screen reader announces the embed by it.
The site embeds from YouTube, Vimeo, ArcGIS, Google, OpenStreetMap, CivicWeb and Aptli, and from any other service your site is set up to allow. The window names the allowed services if a link comes from elsewhere.
Aptli widgets
Insert Aptli widget places a widget from your Aptli instance's Service portal, such as a form. Copy its embed code in Aptli, paste it here, and the widget appears in the body.
Translating the body
Each language has its own body. The translation bar fills the other languages from the default one, for you to read and save. See Languages.
