Signing in
The sign-in page
When your organization publishes portals, the sign-in page lists them first, and Staff sign in opens the form for staff. Otherwise the form shows straight away.
Enter your email address and password, then Sign in.
After too many failed attempts, the account pauses sign-in for the number of minutes your administrator set. The page says how long.
Single sign-on
When your organization signs in through another provider, its button sits under the password form: Continue with Google, Microsoft, GitHub or your organization's SSO.
- You already have an account. Sign in with your password once, then link the provider from My profile › Associate OAuth Providers. The provider's button then signs you in. The sign-in page asks you to link a provider that belongs to your address and is not linked yet.
- You are new. Your first sign-in creates your account, and it waits for an administrator to approve it. You receive an email once they do.
My profile › Linked OAuth Providers lists the providers on your account, sets the primary one and unlinks one.
Two-factor codes
A second factor is a code you enter after your password. Set one up from My profile:
- An authenticator app. Scan the code your profile shows, then enter the six digits the app displays. Keep the recovery codes it gives you. Each one signs you in once if you lose the phone. Send a code by text message instead sends a code to your verified phone.
- A verified phone number. Confirm your number with the code sent to it. Sign-in then texts a code to that number.
A clock counts down while the code is valid. When it runs out, sign in again.
When your organization requires a second factor, My profile opens with Set up a second factor to continue, and the rest of the application waits until you have one.
Trouble signing in?
Trouble signing in? under the form asks for your email address and sends you a way in:
- an address with an account receives a link to choose a new password. The same link confirms an unconfirmed email address;
- an address without one becomes an access request, and an administrator approves it.
The screen answers the same way for every address, and the email says which one happened.
An administrator can also invite you. The invitation email links to a page where you choose your password. When the link has expired, that page sends a new one.
Sessions
Your organization sets how long a session lasts and how many devices you can sign in on at once. Signing in on one device too many ends your session on another, and that device's sign-in page says why. Changes waiting on that device stay there and send once you sign in again.
My profile › Active sessions lists every device signed in to your account and signs one out.
Signing out
Open the menu and press Log out at the bottom.
Reset app data, on the sign-in page while a sign-in is stuck, clears what this browser keeps for Aptli and signs you out.
