Hub sections

A hub section is a block on a page or a post that brings something from your Aptli hub onto the website: a form, the list of all forms, the community map or a question box. The website reads these from the hub when a visitor opens the page. A form that moves on the hub keeps working on the website.

Hub sections appear once the website is paired with the hub.

The six kinds

KindWhat the visitor sees
Hub formOne hub form as a card, with Open the form.
Hub form + QRThe same card with a QR code, captioned Scan to open on your phone.
Hub forms directoryA card for the hub's full list of forms, with Browse all forms.
Hub map linkA card for the hub's community map, with Open the community map.
Hub mini-mapA small live map in a card. The whole card opens the community map.
Ask AI (Q&A)A question box that answers from the website's own content. See AI answers.

Adding a hub section

Hub sections sit in the Page sections field of a page or a post, with the other sections.

  1. Open the page or post, and find Page sections.
  2. Under Add a section:, press the kind you want, such as Hub form.
  3. A list opens with what the hub offers for that kind:
    • Choose a hub form lists every published form, grouped by portal.
    • Choose a forms directory lists the portals that publish a list of forms.
    • Choose a community map lists the portals that publish a map.
    • Choose an AI-enabled portal lists the portals with AI content answers switched on.
  4. Press an entry. The section is added, filled with what you picked.
  5. Give it your own Title and Blurb if you like. Left empty, the card uses the hub's title and a standard line.
  6. Save the page.

Change on the section opens the list again. Your title and blurb stay.

A map on the mini-map

Hub mini-map has a Map feed select. Basemap only shows the map with nothing on it. Any feed an administrator has switched on in Map feeds draws its shapes on the mini-map, up to 500 of them.

Ordering and removing

The sections show on the page in the order the editor lists them, full width, above the page's text.

  • Move up and Move down change the order.
  • Remove section takes a section off, after you confirm.

A page or a post holds up to 20 sections. The template your site uses can narrow the kinds an editor is offered.

When the hub is out of reach

The list of hub forms is fetched for you and kept for five minutes. While the hub is out of reach, the last list stays in use.

  • This website isn't connected to an Aptli hub yet means no hub is paired. Set up the hub connection goes to the pairing screen.
  • Couldn't reach the hub comes with Try again.
  • The hub has no published forms yet or no published community maps yet means the hub has nothing of that kind to offer.

Who does what

Any editor adds hub sections to the pages and posts they edit. Residents use the forms, the map and the question box without an account.
